Next Generation of Oil: PC-11

On December 1, 2016, two new categories of heavy-duty engine oil standards will be licensed: API CK-4 and FA-4. These new categories are part of Proposed Category 11 or PC-11.  PC-11 is broken down into two subcategories: PC-11A and PC-11B

PC-11A will consist of the viscosity grades we have today. CJ-4 to CK-4 backward compatible.

PC-11B engine oils that are lighter viscosity grades provide better fuel economy FA-4 oils will be of a lighter viscosity, they may not be backward compatible depending on OEMs.

Both engine oils will deliver superior performance over current oils. The CK-4 will protect new and older engine models. And, the FA-4 was designed to provide optimized fuel economy for 2017+ engines.

What does this mean for the off-road industry?

  • New diesel engine oil technology will provide opportunities for extended oil drain performance for off-road vehicles versus API CJ-4 Oils
  • Improved oil oxidation performance can help reduce piston deposit formation and increase engine rebuild life due to lower wear.
  • Potential selection of PC-11A SAE 10W-30 can provide improved start-up performance and better wear protection while maintaining hardware protection
  • Wide range of products will allow for improved product selection for both new and older equipment used by off-road equipment companies.

Understanding ISO Cleanliness Codes – Lube Matters

CleanlinessCode_Blog_032816

Think about this: what’s the most critical part of the building you’re standing in? Quite simply, there is no building without a foundation. You may not see it or think about it, but it’s there, below the surface – that solid base that sets the stage for the structure and everything it holds.

The oils, lubricants and hydraulic fluids you use in your equipment play the same role. A clean lubricant is the foundation for maximizing component life. When contaminants you can’t even see reside in lubricants, they threaten equipment reliability. And that can disrupt your business operations and drive up maintenance and equipment costs.

ISOClean Testimonial – Part 3 of a 3 Part Series

When contaminants — like metal particles and dirt — enter a machine’s lubrication zone, a chain reaction of wear begins:  these particles grind away the equipment’s insides, creating more contaminants and more wear.

The Chevron ISOCLEAN® Program has the solutions to fight contaminants.  This premier program provides the expertise and products to increase equipment reliability and avoid equipment failure and downtime.

This is part 3 of a 3 part series, that will demonstrate the power of ISOClean Certified Lubricants and ISOClean Services that Jackson Oil provides!

Need DEF?

Having trouble with DEF supply issues? It is our understanding that there are supply issues in the marketplace with regard to Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).  Because of our local supplier we are not experiencing any issues with obtaining product.  We know the pain associated with not having product when it is needed.  It could lead to unscheduled equipment downtime.  If you are in need of DEF, call your sales consultant today.

definitely jackson

Package Size: We are able to supply 2.5 gallon jugs, drums, totes, and bulk product at a competitive price.  (The picture below shows one of our stainless steel tank wagons solely used to deliver DEF.  There are only a few like them, dedicated for such!)

Equipment:  Jackson Oil & Solvents has solutions for storing and transporting the product to the DEF tank whether the equipment is in a service bay or out in the field.

Cleanliness is next to…
Jackson Oil & Solvents, Inc. has partnered with the Brenntag/TerraCair brand of DEF because we understand the importance of a quality product.  Brenntag offers its customers a closed DEF system to control and manage product quality.  Closed drums and totes require a MicroMatic coupler on the end of the dispensing hose which will connect to the tote’s MicroMatic valve to prevent contaminants such as dirt, debris and bugs from entering the container…Pure to the Tank.

Jackson Oil Delo Truck Event

Jackson Oil hosted the Chevron Delo Truck on Friday, September 19th.  The state-of-the-art interior experience offered lots of attention-drawing features including:

  • Nineteen interactive educational stations including touch screen videos and product presentations.
  • Detroit Diesel cut-away engine to illustrate latest in technology.
  • A video booth to capture and share visitors’ Delo experience.

The interactive truck was a great way to showcase premium Delo engine oils, lubricants, and coolants. The truck started an open dialog between the customers and their salesman. After the customers were done touring the truck, the salesman took them through our other 6 booths. The booths were Fuel Polishing, Racing, DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), Equipment/FuelMaster, Polaris – oil/lubricant analysis, and Palmer Trucks.

The Fuel Polishing/Filtering booth was led by Mike Klepfer, our fuel filtering guru! He was able to not only talk about the benefits of being on a fuel filtering program, but he was able to show the benefits. He took the customers through the truck and explained how the fuel is transferred from the tank and filtered through from start to finish.

The Racing booth was led by the race master herself, Diane Poff. She explained our racing program and our race sponsorship (find out more here: http://jacksonoilsolvents.com/services/24-hour-race-station/). Also, she was able to showcase our full line of VP Racing Products and our 24-hour Race Station.

The DEF booth was led by Keith Huff, the creator of DEF-Depot. Keith went through the importance of being pure to the tank by showing the customers how we are able to keep the product pure. To watch a short video on DEF visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvU-uE_h7HM. To learn more about DEF-Depot visit: www.def-depot.com.

The equipment booth was led by 3 talented equipment and FuelMaster specialists: Jodie Brill, Randy Collier, and Rob Horton.   FuelMaster is an automated fuel management system that can be customized to a customer’s needs; such as smartcard (memory chip card), PROKEE® (memory chip key), credit card reader, keypad only, fleet card, AIM2 passive fueling (radio frequency device inside the vehicle with RFID Tags), mobile fueling for tanker trucks, car wash activation and gate openers just to name a few.

The Fluid Analysis booth was held down by Christine from Polaris Laboratories. She explained an effectively executed fluid analysis program eliminates the guesswork, risk and reactionary nature of your maintenance department. By learning to trust the power of the data, you can save millions of dollars by catching and monitoring problems before they become catastrophes, making unplanned downtime a thing of the past and even reducing the frequency of your current fluid changes.

The final booth we had was Palmer Trucks and the ever so talented salesman John Cummings manned this booth. He also brought a Kenworth tractor to show that in all Kenworth tractors, they are serviced with Chevron Delo XLE 400 10W30. For more information on Palmer Trucks visit: www.palmertrucks.com

Everyone that went to each booth and had their punch cards completed was eligible to be entered into Jackson Oil & Solvents grand prize drawing. The grand prize was a Green Egg Grill and the lucky winner was Mike Chapman from Milestone!

We would like to thank everyone that came to the event and helped make it all possible. Overall we had a great day!
